Tell us about you, what does your life look like outside of being a trustee?
I am married with two adult daughters. I am an avid sports fan and like to attend live events as often as I can. My other interests include painting, reading, walking and travel.
Tell us a bit about your background
I was fortunate to be able to retire early and having worked in the corporate world for all my career, was looking to make a different contribution. I enjoy being able to bring my experience and perspectives to a different sector.
I am a believer that in life if I can help then I should.
How do you plan to use your experience to support our charity’s growth and mission?
I am learning as quickly as I can about the amazing work that National Star has done and is doing and I have so much still to learn. My initial thoughts are around how more young people can benefit from National Star, how we can stay on top of the possibilities that technology presents and is there more we can do when students leave us to help them with their next phase.
Finally, what message would you like to share with our supporters and the families of the young people we work with?
Being appointed as Chair of Trustees is not only a huge privilege and honour but a big responsibility. I believe I have the energy, experience and commitment to live up to this. I will do the very best job I can to ensure the Board of Trustees supports, challenges and encourages National Star to be the best it can be.
I passionately believe that young people deserve the best start that can be provided. The job of National Star is to make the lives of those young people better, and to enable them to be the best they can be.
