Job description

Supporting the emotional wellbeing of students with disabilities at National Star is vital to ensuring they can learn effectively and develop into independent young adults in control of their own lives.

Our Emotional Wellbeing Service is made up of a range of specialist therapists, including Dramatherapists, who work with funded students to help them explore difficult feelings and work through emotional challenges they may be facing.

We are currently looking for a new Dramatherapist to work part time (16 hours a week- term time only). You will be part of a friendly and supportive team of multi-disciplinary therapists including music therapy, dance and movement psychotherapy, counselling, positive behaviour support and clinical psychology.

You will have a caseload of a maximum of 8 hours direct delivery of dramatherapy to support the students’ social, emotional, and mental health needs as identified in their Education, Health and Care Plans. Sessions will be delivered either as one-to-one interventions or as part of a small group alongside another therapist.

We’re looking for someone who is proactive and creative to undertake this role, ideally with experience of working in an education setting with people with profound and multiple learning disabilities, ASD and acquired brain injuries. We’d expect you to have a MA in dramatherapy and most likely be a member of The British Association of Dramatherapists.

The FTE salary of £36,828 – £37,691 for this role will be dependent on your experience and will be adjusted depending on hours worked but as a guideline for 16 hours this will equate to c £13,700 – £14,000

Our Emotional Wellbeing Service is having a significant and positive impact on the lives of students at National Star. Join our friendly team and see how your dramatherapy skills can be used to deliver positive change for others.
