Job description
We’re looking to recruit a part-time Events and Special Projects Manager to help plan and run an exciting range of internal and external events for students, staff, and members of the public.
Reporting to the Head of Social Enterprise & Events, you will work closely with colleagues across various departments, including fundraising, HR, StarBistro and marketing, to plan and deliver events throughout the year.
You’ll need a good understanding of event management and first-class organisational skills. It will be your responsibility to keep events on track and on budget, so experience of managing finances associated with events would be useful.
The role will involve you liaising with a broad range of people, so be prepared to use your negotiation skills, tact, and diplomacy as part of this role. Irrespective of whether you are organising events for internal or external audiences, we expect you to be customer-focussed, adding creative value to the event management process.
Planning events requires excellent project management skills, as well as attention to detail and a strong level of IT literacy. We’re expecting the successful candidate will have all these skills.
By the very nature of planning and running events there will be an element of anti-social hours working so a flexible approach to working hours will be required. Whilst this is a part time role (22.5 hours per week), during our busy times there will be the expectation to work extra hours to be able to meet the demands of the events we are running with overtime payments as appropriate.
This role will see you potentially travelling to all National Star sites, including those in Hereford and Wales. Therefore, a full driving licence is essential.
The full time equivalent salary for this role is £35,784 per annum – actual salary will equate to £21,760 plus overtime for additional hours worked.
This is an exciting role with a huge level of job satisfaction. Join our friendly team and use your event management skills to help us pursue our vision of a world where people with disabilities can thrive as equal citizens in control of their own lives.
About us
National Star is a growing charity with more than 1,200 staff based in England and Wales. Established more than 50 years ago, we’ve supported hundreds of young people with disabilities to achieve their potential.
How we will reward you
