National Star wins Charity of the Year award
National Star has been named Charity of the Year at the Gloucestershire Business Awards.
The charity was up against some tough competition in the highly contested category at the 25th annual business awards in the county, held at The Centaur, Cheltenham.
Winning the award strengthens National Star’s position as one of the leading charities in Gloucestershire. It will help support our future fundraising efforts and will be used as a springboard to forge even stronger links with the local business community.
The evening was a genuine celebration of all that is good at National Star, with the audience cheering as the National Star team took to the stage to accept the award.
What made the event even more special was when a former student, who now works as part of the hospitality team at The Centaur, came over to congratulate staff attending the event. The young woman told the National Star team that she wouldn’t have achieved all that she has in life if she hadn’t attended National Star and worked in StarBistro.
‘There is nothing more satisfying than bumping into former students who have achieved their aspirations. Whether students wish to pursue a goal of employment or long-term volunteering or are aiming to live independently after college, we are here to help them every step of the way,’ said Peter Horne, Deputy Chief Executive.
The prize of £1,000 worth of free advertising associated with winning the title of Charity of the Year will be used to promote StarBistro and next year’s Sunrise Walk, scheduled for 17 March 2024.
