National Star had a double victory at the prestigious Circle2Success Awards for businesses and organisations across the South-West.

The charity’s in-house CPD team received the ‘Talent, Training and Development’ Award and Chief Executive Lynette Barrett won the coveted Leadership award.

National Star is passionate about colleague development and training. The charity runs in-house teacher education training, management training programmes, job shadowing, and partnerships with external apprenticeship providers, including several universities.

“The work that this department carries out across the organisation brings so much value and this award is richly deserved,” said Chief Executive Lynette Barrett. “They support employee development, quality improvement, employee retention and professionalise all aspects of internal training. The charity could never provide the quality of care and support that we do without this team.”

Lynette’s Leadership award is in recognition of her passion and determination to do everything she can to achieve the charity’s mission of a world in which people with disabilities can lead fulfilling lives as active citizens in their local communities.

Nikki Richardson, Chair of Governors at National Star, says: “Lynette is a strong and outstanding leader. Lynette’s personal profile and the profile she has helped National Star develop has resulted in it achieving national recognition as an exceptional and highly successful organisation, leading the way in providing opportunities for students with complex difficulties.”

Lynette said she was humbled by the award. “All I can say is that I have some amazing people around me that make my work so much easier,” she said. “I love everything we do at National Star, I believe in what we do and the direction we are travelling in.”
