Retired business leader Nick Grinham is the newest trustee to join disability charity National Star as Chair Designate.

He will become Chair of Trustees from 1st September 2024, taking over from Interim Chair Margaret Sheather.

Nick has extensive charity experience and is currently chair of two charities – KeyRing Living Support Networks and Sight Support West of England. During his career Nick led large and diverse teams across the world. Nick has worked in the retail, publishing and oil and gas sectors, holding senior leadership positions in Human Resources, business strategy and transformation and Information Technology.

Throughout his career Nick has passionately advocated for inclusion in all forms in the workplace. When he heard about the opportunity to join National Star, he felt it was an opportunity that was too good to miss.

“I have always strongly believed that if you can help then you should help. National Star is such an impressive charity and I want to support it to further grow and evolve,” says Nick.

“My experience will enable me to help support, inform, and contribute to the strategy and vision. National Star is a beacon in the world of disability and the teams work tirelessly to enable young people with disabilities and learning difficulties to reach their potential.

“It’s a huge privilege to be accepted as Chair Designate and I look forward to working with all the National Star community to help this incredible charity reach its own potential.”

National Star’s trustees were unanimous in their selection of Nick.

“His wealth of experience and skills will make him a vital asset to the charity and its future,” says Margaret Sheather. “Nick is friendly and genuine and that shines through. That combination of experience and personality will enable the charity to flourish.”
