Walking for Howard
Louise and her family join the Sunrise Walk to honour her son Howard’s memory. This year they are marking his 40th birthday while raising funds for people with disabilities like him.
For the past two years Louise and her family have joined National Star for the Sunrise Walk in memory of her late son, Howard.
In March 2022, Howard, a vibrant young man with Williams Syndrome and a learning disability, passed away unexpectedly. He was at the heart of his family, bringing joy, and laughter to everyone he met.
His final resting place lies within view of the hill where participants gather for the Sunrise Walk.
As the sun rises over Leckhampton Hill during this year’s Sunrise Walk, it will highlight Howard’s resting place that holds deep meaning to Louise and her family. For them, the Sunrise Walk is not just a fundraising event — it’s a journey of remembrance, connection, and love, all in the memory of Howard.
This year, the walk holds an even greater significance to Louise. It falls on what would have been Howard’s 40th birthday. To honour him, eight of Howard’s family and friends are coming together to walk in his memory and raise funds for a cause that supports people with disabilities like Howard.
Howard’s Aunt is travelling from Sydney, Australia, to take part. Despite recently undergoing two knee replacement surgeries, her ‘titanium knees,’ as she proudly calls them, haven’t got in the way of training and she’s now ready for the challenge.
As the family takes on the 13k route, step by step, they will remember Howard’s laughter and kindness.
This is more than a walk for Louise and her family, it is a celebration of Howard’s life, and a commitment to helping others.
By participating or sponsoring someone who is taking part in the Sunrise Walk, you support many others with complex disabilities.
